Theme: Food Waste, Save the Planet—Save Food, Wasting Food is Wasting
the Planet.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has
announced its 23rd international children’s painting competition
on environment. The theme of the current edition is ‘Food
Waste’ and the sub-theme is ‘Save the planet- save food, wasting food is
wasting the planet’,
The organizers are inviting children all over the world to submit
their paintings to the UNEP office in their regions. The children will
have until 15 March 2014.
The International Children’s Painting Competition on
Environment is organised every year by the UNEP, Japan-based
Foundation for Global Peace and Environment (FGPE), Bayer and Nikon
Corporation. It has been held since 1991 and has received more than 3
million entries from children in over 150 countries.
Children between the age of six and 14 can attend the event. The
paintings must be done on A4 or A3 papers.
Full name of the candidate, age (day, month and year), gender and
full address, including phone and email (in English), must be on the
back of the painting and not on the painting.
The style of painting is free. Crayons, coloured pencils, water
colours etc could be used.
Paintings that have been shown or accepted elsewhere will not be
accepted and paintings that show a particular person, an organisation or
a brand name will not be accepted. Paintings should be posted or sent
by courier service and should be received before March 15, 2014.
Only hard copies of paintings, with no words or description on the
painting, will be accepted. Participants can submit as many paintings as
they like.
Prizes
The 1st prize is US$ 2,000 with a fully paid trip for the winner and a
chaperone to a UNEP event (date and venue to be confirmed later). The
winner will also receive a plaque and supplementary prizes.
The second prize is US$ 1,000 and a fully paid trip for winners and a
chaperone to a UNEP event (date and venue to be confirmed later). The
winner will also receive a plaque and supplementary prizes.
The third prize, given to three entrants, is a diploma for each
winner (no cash). The 4th Prize, for 10 entrants, is a diploma for each
winner (no cash). The 5th prize, for 35 entrants, is a diploma for each
winner (no cash).
A winner each will be selected from the regions of Africa, Asia and
the Pacific, West Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and
North America. Each winner will get US$ 1,000 and a fully paid trip for
the winner and a chaperones to a UNEP event (date and venue to be
confirmed later).
